Glaciares De La Patagonia

I only stayed one of the two nights I had planned because I needed to catch an evening bus to El Chalten. The roads were expected to close the next day because of high winds. The stay was pleasant, and the location was convenient, about a 15 minute walk from the bus terminal. Mailen greeted me warmly and helped book my Perito Moreno Glacier excursion. Thank you.

The staff were superb, friendly, and helpful, and our room had plenty of space. Still, I had a rough stay because I couldn't sleep well. There's no elevator, either. The doors throughout the building barely shut or lock, the bed was springy and noisy, and the walls are so thin I could hear every word in hallway conversations. The skylight was incredibly bright and couldn't be covered, so I was up by 7am at the latest. Breakfast starts at 7am, with doors opening and closing, plates clanging, and chairs scraping. WiFi was fast and strong at reception, but I couldn't connect from the room. The central heating also made the place stuffy, and there was no way to adjust the room temperature. Breakfast itself was adequate.

Four of us packed up and left within a couple of hours because the room was so depressing. It was tiny even for one person, stifling hot, dark, and spartan. There was just one window, looking out onto an area where trash had been dumped behind the building. The walls were stained and peeling. The only furniture was a very uncomfortable bed and two equally uncomfortable wooden chairs, with nowhere to put bags. There were two bedside lights, but I had to unplug one to use a charger.

It was comfortable and came with breakfast, and for what it costs, it's well worth it. The bus stop is a short walk away, even though some of the roads aren't paved.
