The location is the one thing this place has going for it. Getting to the room meant navigating a maze of stairs, and inside we found peeling paint, mold in the shower, and old soap piled outside the shower window. The beds weren’t properly cleaned, and the comforter looked like it might have decades of dirt on it. When we asked for fresh pillow covers because ours were stained, the woman at the desk criticized us for being picky. We ended up sleeping in our sleeping bags because we didn’t want to risk getting sick from the dirty sheets and poorly maintained room. The room was a decent size, but service was awful. Look nearby if you want somewhere habitable.

The man at reception was so insulting and unbearable that he was waving his arms and forcing us out. I’ve no idea who decided to charge guests cash to use hot water, but that felt like another part of the inhumane treatment there. There are nicer, cheaper options. Don’t go.

We reserved a room with a double king-size bed and were given a twin room instead. It was covered in dust and cobwebs, with mold too. When we complained, nobody admitted the mistake or did anything about it. The breakfast was really poor. Reception closes at 10 pm, and you can only borrow a hairdryer during those hours if one is available. A nightmare in Calafate.

The man at the desk got angry and was shaking, and after he jumped to some ridiculous conclusions we had no choice but to leave. It was a truly awful experience. I hope this place is forgotten.
