The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms are a little dated, but they were comfortable and well maintained. We also loved how easy it was to walk to bars, restaurants, and shops in town. It made exploring El Calafate very convenient, and we’d happily stay here again.

The internet was very slow, and there was no air conditioning, coffee maker, complimentary water in the room, or electronic key. This is a very old hotel and doesn’t feel like a four-star property. Breakfast was very basic, and some of the staff weren’t helpful. You can find a better hotel for this price.

Breakfast was good, the staff were pleasant, and there’s a games area with a pool table. The rooms look attractive and are spacious, with a large bed, but the hotel doesn’t meet what I’d expect from a four-star place. There was no complimentary water, kettle, coffee, or tea. The TV offered only 14 local channels; ours was faulty and got replaced, but in the end there was still nothing to watch. The toilet cistern needed attention, and the only toiletries were tiny bars of soap, with no shower gel. It just didn’t give a four-star impression.

Breakfast was ample and good, and the location was convenient. The first night was hard to sleep through, though: street noise was loud and dogs barked for much of the night. I don’t blame the hotel for the dogs, though I wonder if it was related to the location. We also found the hot tub barely warm and not very enjoyable. The advertised “spa” and fitness area was only open for a few evening hours, which we hadn’t known from the description. Our housekeeper moved the towels and belongings around even though we’d arranged them how we wanted.

The rooms are neat and have a comfortable vintage feel. The hotel sits right in the middle of the city, if you can call it a city, and it’s only a few minutes’ walk to the main downtown areas.
