Wilma made us feel like she was doing us a favor from the moment we arrived at "Cabañas Vivir." I had rented for five people and received confirmation stating five, but she later questioned it and said it was for three. That was completely unacceptable. The cabin had almost no amenities, not even a stove light or toilet paper in the bathroom. There were water stains in the main room, and the outside looked nothing like the photos. Going in and out meant keeping an eye on her dogs, as if I were on vacation to babysit them. I've stayed in other places in El Calafate that offered much more for less, and any hostel has better amenities. You can find something ten times better in El Calafate for half the price. We had a terrible time here.

For the price, the service and treatment left a lot to be desired, and I wouldn't come back. The Wi-Fi and TV didn't work, and there was no toilet paper or paper towels. I ended up using my Elite tissues in the bathroom, which is a lot. They said conditioner and shampoo were complimentary because each guest was supposed to bring their own. They also need to keep their pets from going outside.

We stayed in the cabin for 11 nights and loved it. The quiet place is well equipped for cooking, and it's a ten-minute walk to the bus station. It's very central, with easy access to the town's trails and shops. Wilma, Aldana, and Santiago treated us very well and did their best to make our stay enjoyable, including sharing lots of tips. They're among the town's first residents. The only thing to keep in mind is that the Wi-Fi is quite slow, though that seems to be an issue throughout El Chaltén. We highly recommend it!

Make sure to arrange your check-in time ahead of arrival. The signal in the area is very weak, so they may not hear you from inside. The cabins are in a great location, and Aldana and Wilma were always impeccable in their service. The cabin is spacious and fairly well equipped. The Wi-Fi doesn't work very well, and I think they could improve it.

It was a great budget option, and I'd definitely return :). The location was ideal for walks, and when I got back I could shop for groceries and pack a good lunch for an early hike the next morning. I loved the service and the well-equipped cabin, which had just what I needed.
