We loved seeing the owner’s friendly, affectionate cat. We’re always happy to have cat company, and sunrise from the front lawn is worth getting up for: Fitz Roy turns red. If you’re in puesto 4, you can watch it from your room. We spent a very pleasant week at El Puesto Sur in early February. The cabana was roomy and well equipped, the bed was comfortable, and the heating worked well. I especially liked that the bathroom had its own heater. Water pressure and temperature were great too. The location made it easy to get around town, with a fabulous view of Mt. Fitz Roy, and communication was clear and simple. Breakfast was delivered each evening for the next day, which let us set off on the trail whenever we wanted. There was plenty, often enough to save some for lunch, and the alfajores were the best I’ve had anywhere.

It was easy to communicate with Demian, and his cat is cute. The cabana was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed for a stay of several days. Demian was a gracious, wonderful host. The daily continental breakfast made a nice bite before heading out on long hikes.

The view was incredible, and the host made sure we were comfortable and had the information we needed to enjoy El Chalten. He helped us check the weather, gave us a town map, suggested a few short hikes for our first day to get oriented, and recommended and arranged a van to another trailhead for the FitzRoy hike. I’d happily stay there again. We were at Cabanas El Puesto Sur in early January and really liked our room. The bed was comfortable, everything was clean, and the small kitchenette had what we needed for simple meals or coffee and tea. On nights we didn’t eat out, we also enjoyed the modest but tasty continental breakfast, delivered to our room each evening for the next morning. We liked Budin’s visits each morning too, the host’s friendly cat.
