Esplendor by Wyndham Mendoza

The concert hall and bar in the building were extremely loud, and I couldn’t sleep at all. The cheap windows let all the outside noise into the room. This place isn’t suited to be a hotel. I ended up sleeping on my bathroom floor just to get a little quiet.

The bed was the only good part of this hotel. There was no food available, the staff weren’t helpful, and the managers were nowhere to be found. The service fell short of so many rules that this shouldn’t be classed as a five-star hotel. If you want to be disappointed, choose this place. NOT!! I’ve worked in the hotel industry for over 25 years, and this was shameful and embarrassing for anyone who has worked in hotels.

The room was okay, but for the price I expected better rooms, concierge service, and customer care. There were stray dogs and cats inside the building. When I asked for winery suggestions for lunch, I thought the concierge would call and make a reservation. Instead, I was given a list to contact myself, which is difficult with an overseas number. We’d booked a couples massage at the hotel spa for the next morning, but the evening before, we were told it had to be rescheduled. We canceled it altogether. Breakfast was also below par for a hotel of this ranking: the pastries, croissants, and other bread were stale, and there were no eggs. The staff could use training in hospitality and customer service that meets international standards. It’s too far out of the way, with too many hassles for what we paid. I don’t recommend it.

A calm area, with a casino and a few restaurants next to the hotel. The room was spacious, clean, and had a comfortable bed. The hotel pool is a nice extra, though the pool bar wasn’t open when we visited. The continental breakfast was good.
