Hotel Astor

The food wasn't included, so we ate out, and most of the places we tried in Mar Del Plata were good. I first visited Argentina on this trip, and I'll certainly come back to the country, but not to the Astor Hotel. In our room, the beds were very small and soft, and the bathroom sink had no pressure. The view was an interior courtyard shared with some other rooms. With a window open, you could hear everything people said there.

It falls well short of a 4-star hotel. For what you pay, there are too many little issues. I won't be back.

The room was clean, comfortable, and well kept, and the location is excellent. Still, the service didn't feel like 4-star quality. We went with family in February 2026 through the company Pedraza, and the rigid timing and staff's constant hurry-up pressure made it hard to relax. Our bus arrived at 10:30 am, but we couldn't check in until 2:00 pm. On departure, we had to leave the room at 8:00 am for a bus that didn't come until 10:00 am. Knowing those gaps ahead of time would have helped us prepare and be more comfortable. Breakfast ran only from 7:30 to 9:00 am, with little choice, and staff rudely cleared our table while we were still sitting there. The half-board meals were plain and lacking flavor, with few good options. Dinner was restricted to 8:00-9:30 pm. Drinks were inconvenient too: cash only, at exorbitant prices, and they came to collect payment during dessert. The pool was small but enjoyable, though we were limited to half an hour and told to leave immediately when time was up. I wouldn't return.

The heated pool was spectacular, and the spa was lovely. The sauna worked well, and there were three gym machines. We also enjoyed the comfortable room, adjustable air conditioning, and excellent bathrooms with good water pressure and temperature. Breakfast was delicious, and dinner was even better. The waiter was great, and all the waitresses were incredibly friendly. The TV was good and the Wi-Fi worked, but the connection could be stronger and faster, with better quality. Maybe each floor should have its own modem. These days I can't do without Wi-Fi, it's more important than anything else.
