Hotel Mansilla

The bed was awful: two single beds pushed together with old mattresses that sagged into a pit when I lay down. The sheets and comforter were old too, and I slept terribly. The room was tiny, smelled stuffy, had carpet that seemed never to be vacuumed, and a TV from prehistoric times. The bathroom was so cramped that showering soaked the sink, bidet, towels, and bath towel. You have to pay for hot water, and the Wi-Fi password they give you on arrival is for a network that never works. The elevators are in such bad shape they seem ready to break, and nothing feels maintained. It's really bad. The municipality should keep better control and not allow it to operate like this. I wouldn't give it even one star.

For the price, breakfast and dinner were at least quite decent, and the women in the dining room were friendly and polite. Still, everything people say in the reviews is true. The elevators kept having trouble, and some women got stuck inside. The sheets weren't changed and under the beds wasn't cleaned. While packing to leave, we found used diapers under the "double" bed, which was just two beds pushed together. Disgusting. We went to get a pack. Oh well.

The dining room was lovely and the food was pretty good. Our first-floor room was quite clean, and we used the stairs. The bathroom was spotless and the fan was fine, but ants had taken over the room and we left covered in them. We didn't use the TV because its remote didn't work, and we didn't ask for another one. There are no ramps, which is a drawback for somewhere suited to older people and families.

The croissants were the only good part of breakfast; the toast was old and hard, and the rest was so-so. I traveled alone but was charged for a double, then given an uncomfortable single-bed room. The water for the thermos costs extra, a rip-off. The carpet was filthy, and the room smelled so strongly of damp that it was nauseating, with no airflow to clear the stuffy smell. Pigeon droppings covered the windows and curtains, and opening the window let pigeons in. The fan didn't work. I complained and was told they'd call a repairman, but no one came. The bathroom was horrible: the bidet and toilet were broken, moved around, and leaked everywhere; the sink was broken loose, dirty, and moldy. The elevator wasn't working, so we had to carry suitcases up the stairs. While they were supposedly fixing it, a woman got locked inside in the middle of the night. Horrible.
