O2 Hoteles Mar del Plata

Our stay went wrong from the start. We booked and paid through Booking.com for a double room at a very high rate, over $200 USD per night, at this 3-star hotel. We thought it might be worth it and that we'd enjoy the hotel and MDP. We were completely wrong. We arrived as two adults with our 6-month-old child and had an experience unlike anything we'd had at any hotel. Instead of the double room we'd reserved, they assigned us a very dark accessible room, or a “room designed for guests with disabilities.” We politely asked to switch, suggested they find another room, and were willing to pay extra. The main manager rudely discussed our situation with his team in a way that insulted my wife, who spoke a little Spanish. He acted aggressively, barking orders at his staff in front of us. We offered several solutions: another room, paying for an upgrade, or canceling and getting a refund. He refused every option. After three hours of negotiations, he finally offered us an old, small room in the hotel's outdated wing, where even the electrical outlets were broken. Exhausted from the long journey and with a tired baby, we had no choice but to accept it. The room was nowhere near worth what we paid on Booking. The whole ordeal spoiled our plans and our first impression of MDP. What shocked me most was the manager blaming the Booking system for the error and refusing to acknowledge or apologize for the hotel's mistake. With prices that unreasonable, poor service, and the manager's unprofessional behavior, I can't recommend this hotel.

The rooms are basic and comfortable, though the hotel is showing its age. Service was fine, breakfast was very good, and the restaurant served good food at affordable prices. There's a nice warm pool and a sauna, and you can book a massage if you like. The services were convenient, and we left very satisfied, thinking we'd visit the hotel again on a future trip to the city.

The shower was broken, and the rusted towel rack had left metal shards across the shower floor. We had to switch rooms twice, with construction happening that we hadn't been told about before booking. Customer service was nowhere to be found, they wouldn't answer the phone. A horrible hotel experience.

The rooms were roomy and clean, the staff were friendly, and the restaurant was very good. The location was great too, and there was WiFi.
