Casa La Galeana Hotel & Cava

The staff were kind and diligent, but they couldn’t make up for the condition of the buildings. This was a real disappointment and not worth the price. The place is a lovely old quinta, and the buildings and rooms have a lot of beauty, but they haven’t been updated or painted in a long time. The online photos give a misleading impression. The hotel feels outdated and poorly maintained, and needs a major renovation. Our room key failed repeatedly. There were broken bathroom tiles and mold on the ceiling. The old-looking pool wasn’t inviting, and the exercise machines seemed to be from the 60s and barely worked. The kitchen also needs a full renovation, and the guest refrigerator didn’t work at all. There were plenty of other problems like these.

It’s a real pity, because the place is beautiful, but so much in the hotel is outdated or broken. The air conditioning and room locks didn’t work properly, there were walls falling apart inside the closets, and bathroom tiles were missing. Staff kept trying to fix things, but staying here took up far too much of my time. I was there for six days and had two rooms, so I ran into plenty of issues. One refrigerator didn’t work, and once I was locked out of my room and had to wait hours to get back in. The owner really needs to invest in the place.

The room was already crawling with ants when we got there, and the bathroom faucet came loose while we were using the sink. The room layout also meant we could hear the neighbors all night. This is advertised as a country escape, but it's in a noisy city, with barking dogs and people shouting nearby. The game room was in bad shape too: the pool table couldn't be used, and the chess and backgammon set was missing pieces. Awful in every way. I'd give it zero stars if I could.

The garden is lovely, the bed is cozy, and breakfast was delicious. The facilities are great, and there’s a sauna and a masseuse as well. The staff were wonderful. In short, don't miss it. Highly recommend!
