The pool was a highlight for me. Every day after coming back from the rivers, I’d jump in before heading off to shower. Balneario Elefantes is only three blocks away, and everything else is close too, even though the hotel isn’t right downtown. The service was exceptional. Aylen was so lovely, and the other woman I saw briefly on a different shift was really friendly too. Such a good place!

The friendly, polite receptionist was the one bright spot. Everything else made for the worst hotel sleep I’ve ever had. Guests were left to make a racket until 3 AM, and complaining to them didn’t get anyone from the hotel involved to keep things under control. There was room at the back where they could have gathered without disturbing everyone, but nobody did anything. The walls are paper-thin, the beds were just mattresses, and there were barely any towels. The roosters start up at 4:45 AM, which is what roosters do, but some basic soundproofing would make a big difference. Everyone leaves at 11 PM, so after that the place becomes chaos with no one around to complain to or restore order. I wouldn’t go back even if they paid me.

I stayed for just two hours, then left and got only 50% of what I paid back. What a rip-off. None of what they say is true. They claim it’s 0.7 km from the center, but it’s 1.1 km. The three Wi-Fi signals don’t work at all. They charge you before showing you the facilities, and when you disagree, they don’t want to refund the payment you made just 15 minutes earlier. There are lots of hotels near the center for much less. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.

We had to switch rooms because the boiler wasn’t working, and then found bugs in the bed above it. The mattress in the first room was only so-so. We also missed breakfast since we left at 6 and it wasn’t served until 8.

The location issue was a letdown. Booking.com lists Hotel Aymara as 0.2 miles from the center, but it’s actually 1.2 km away, in a remote area where you’ll need to drive or take an Uber. Since the booking can’t be canceled without a penalty, arriving leaves you with the choice of staying far out or losing money. There seems to have been good infrastructure here originally, but the place needs maintenance and finishing. The mattresses are outdated, and the plastic breakfast tables and chairs take away from its charm. They only take cash, no credit or debit cards. An awning separates the property from a neighbor with chickens and geese that start making noise around 4 a.m., and the windows don’t block the sound. The facilities themselves aren’t bad, and the place has potential, but this wasn’t a good experience and it didn’t meet the price or expectations. I hope the owners address these details.
