Boutique Hotel De La Fonte

The restaurant is tucked off the beaten path, but absolutely worth the trip. The lasagna was the best I've had, and my husband loved his seafood pasta. I also tried the La Parmigiana as a starter, and it was delicious with a modern twist. Their wine suggestion and the service were both perfect. I only wish I'd had room for dessert. It's a hidden gem I'd highly recommend checking out.

Art is part of the meal from start to finish, from the dinnerware to the way the food is presented, with the owner's work displayed throughout the restaurant. The dishes were surprisingly elegant, with flavor experiments I hadn't come across before. The eggplant starter was a great example, and the lasagna was shaped like a rose. Sergio was a magnificent server, attentive and good at explaining each course. I highly recommend this place.

The soup was very nice, and the food looks great in photos. But the attention to detail wasn't there. I had a dish with Parmesan ice cream, and even after stabbing it several times I couldn't break it. The shrimp salad was worse: the shrimp were a strange body temperature, and eating them felt like eating a human ear or finger. They also have live music with a program. I'm not a fan, though some people might like it.

The atmosphere is lovely, and the sushi looked good from a distance. The pizzas, though, were so bad that calling them pizzas feels unfair. The cheese was more like a white liquid, with a queso-like consistency, than actual cheese. We had to send the olive oil back twice. Somehow it tasted more like white wine vinegar, and the waiter agreed but said it was the only olive oil they had. The pizza needs work.
