Hotel Amayal

Really clean, with comfortable rooms, good amenities, and great staff. The location is outstanding.

The rooms were large, the garden out back was nice, and the hotel is fairly central. The bathroom wasn’t in the best condition, and there were flies coming from the drains, which apparently happens when the pipes haven’t been used for a while. The main problem was the transport we arranged through the hotel for three people and our large bags. We had an 8 a.m. flight and had asked for a ride at 5:30 in the morning. They saw how much luggage we had when we booked, but the car that arrived on time was a small, old one driven by a private person, and our bags wouldn’t fit. We were stressed and worried we’d miss the flight since we couldn’t all go to the airport together in it. Luckily, a taxi appeared in the street despite the early hour and took all of us and the luggage. Without that, things could have gone badly. The very young receptionist on duty couldn’t help with the problem because he didn’t speak English. That stressful situation is the main reason for my low rating.

We stayed for two nights in March 2025. The room was old and dirty, and the towel wasn’t clean. The air conditioning malfunctioned and made a huge noise that kept us from sleeping. We complained, and the manager said she’d move us the next day, but then denied promising that and said there was no room available. She said the AC would be fixed before dawn, but it was still making the same loud noise.

The hotel’s one good point is its location. From the first day, the receptionist wasn’t very nice. There was a roach in the “breakfast” area, and they charged fees for things like stained sheets, towels, and pillows. Yet when we arrived, everything in the room had yellowish stains, apparently from poor cleaning, and it all looked old and uncared for. The room wasn’t clean, the bathroom had mold and mildew, the drain had problems, and it smelled like feces during our stay. We asked several times for the room to be cleaned, but it still looked the same. Maybe the cleaning chemicals weren’t working. Leaving Iguazu with this experience left us with a bitter-sweet feeling. Locals apparently know the owner, and many have mentioned visitor complaints. The hotel clearly needs better management and remodeling. I’d strongly suggest staying elsewhere.
