The check-in was finally handled by a nice woman, but by then I’d decided not to stay. I’d told the manager what time my bus would get in after she asked when I’d arrive, and messaged from the terminal in Salta to say I’d be at the hostel in about 20 minutes. At the door, I rang the bell, waited, rang again, and waited some more. When I called her WhatsApp number, she declined the call. She said she had a few properties and couldn’t wait around. I understood there might not always be someone at the hostel, but I thought she’d asked so somebody could be there. If she couldn’t make it, she could have told me someone would come soon and apologized. Instead she was rude, with no apology. I’ve traveled for years and stayed in hundreds of hostels, and this was the only time I’d had an experience like it. Terrible, rude manager.
