Gran Hotel Provincial

The staff made this place feel like home for my wife and me during our two-month trip through Chile and Argentina. Everyone we dealt with, from reception to the waiters and cleaning crew, was friendly, efficient and professional, and did their best to make us feel welcome. The premises were clean, and the location and facilities were all very good too. We both agree this hotel stands out, and we'd recommend it without reservation. Saludos!

The area is a real plus, with a lovely park close by, plenty of restaurants, and open-air pedestrian promenades practically next door. Breakfast includes pastries and bread, ham and cheese, scrambled eggs, orange juice, and good coffee. Inside, though, the hotel feels worn out. It may once have been stylish, but it needs renovation. The elevators are slow and their buttons don't light up. In our bathroom, the shower had no proper curtain or door to keep water off the floor, so we had to clean up every time. The bathroom door was rotted at the bottom from water damage, apparently a problem others had too. Most of the outlets in our room were so loose we had to tape our chargers in place to get a connection. The WiFi was slow, and having a different network for each floor was annoying.

The location is good, and service was okay. The rooms are dated, need renovation, and had a smell. If you're allergic and need a carpet-free room, make that clear when booking, because they have only one room without filthy carpets. Breakfast had most things, but there wasn't anyone around to help serve, and finding cutlery was a challenge. Good luck with that.

The location is central, handy for restaurants and local attractions, and the staff were courteous. There's underground parking and free secure WiFi in the room. The decor is dated, though my bathroom had recently been redone and felt more modern. If you don't smoke, ask for a non-smoking room. I'm not sure whether they keep rooms aside for non-smokers, but they will at least check before assigning one.
