Barbara, the owner, was so lovely. We came here to get away from everything and found the quiet, gorgeous views, and great facilities we wanted. Having a car makes trips down to town for lunch or dinner easier. Taxis can take you there and back if you don't have one, though you'll need to allow for that cost in your vacation budget. You can walk down too, but I'd suggest driving back up since the hill is really steep. Still, it's absolutely worth it.

Breakfast was decent, though pretty basic, and a bit more variety or some fresh fruit would've been nice. The owners were welcoming, and we appreciated being able to bring our own food to eat there, with cutlery and a microwave available. The rooms were clean, the whole property was well maintained, the beds were very comfortable, and the bathrooms were spacious. We loved the decor and the peace and quiet. Getting there wasn't difficult, and my husband and I arrived around 8:30 pm without trouble. Use first gear for the last stretch. The view of Lake Lacar is incredible, and I'd say only a few places get to enjoy it like this. If I come back to San Martín de los Andes, I'd stay here again.

I really recommend taking time to enjoy the common spaces here instead of just coming back to sleep. They're lovely, decorated with local pieces that feel historic, depending on your age. The wooded setting is beautiful too. When I opened the windows, the nature was right there, and the rooms I stayed in always looked out over Lake Lacar and the city of San Martin de los Andes. The beds were super comfortable, the bathrooms excellent, and the shower was a dream. The room decor felt really welcoming. Bárbara, the owner, greets guests herself and has such a great, friendly vibe. Breakfast felt relaxed and almost personal, so it was easy to feel at home, only with a wonderful view. Noelia, who takes care of breakfast and cleaning, was very kind and happily answered our questions about places to visit. Bárbara and her family make the breakfast jams with local fruit, and they were delicious. You can also buy some to take home for a token price compared with the regional shops. They make their own honey too. Casa de Té Arrayán is right next door, reached by a little 200mts path, and it's totally worth going with a reservation. If you don't have dinner in town, you can bring food back and heat it in the microwave, with dishes always available. Ask about the barbecue too, as one is available. The climb up to the Hostal is steep, as several reviews mention. If you're not used to that kind of terrain, like us, the first time is hard, but after that it stops being a concern. Definitely recommend it.

The best view is from the wonderful balcony, where you can sit with a drink and take in the scenery and quiet. Bárbara and her husband are incredibly friendly, and the place is clean and neat, with charming little details. Driving there is a bit tricky, but doable, and the view makes it worthwhile.
