Cabanas Las Turquitas

I had a bad experience and couldn’t even stay the night. The cabin, pool, and the place in general were filthy, and it felt like the accommodation lacked everything. The owner and his daughter were nice people, but the place was uninhabitable. I checked with the Tourism Office and found the cabin isn’t registered. That’s a shame, because I don’t think it can operate in those conditions.

The property was quiet and conveniently close to the center, with easy access. We recently spent a week there. The cabin wasn’t unpleasant, but it was missing essentials, especially decent heating. They provided fan heaters and a gas cylinder heater. Housekeeping never came, and we didn’t get the included change of sheets or towels. There was little communication, too. No one checked whether we were okay or needed anything, and on our last day we couldn’t find anyone to hand the key to.

The owner and his children were wonderful and always available, and the maid did a very good job. Just remember to ask if you want the cabin cleaned or the towels or sheets changed, since it isn’t done automatically. The grounds are lovely, and the shower was great, with strong pressure and hot water whenever you wanted it. The pool was okay, though it feels small if everyone wants to swim at once. The main problem was maintenance in cabin #2. Only one of the four doors shut properly, they all creaked, the faucets were loose, and the toilet and bidet leaked. Someone handy could probably sort it out in a day. There’s no air conditioning, but we managed fine with fans during our stay. I didn’t get to mention the maintenance to the owner before leaving. If you go, I hope you’ll tell him so they can improve things for next time.

We booked based on photos from the website that were already 6 years old, and arrived to find a neglected, dirty, broken-down property. The photos we took on January 22, 2018 show the condition we found it in. The host NEVER came, nobody knew about our reservation, and the person who dealt with us provided very poor service. We had transferred the requested $3,000 deposit, but after seeing the deplorable state of the place and getting such terrible service, we cancelled immediately and asked for a refund. We couldn’t get one because the owner and/or manager refused to show up. There was hair in the bathroom, badly damaged doors with no handles, damp walls, crumbling masonry, a closet with no door, food scraps on the bed and in various corners, a foul smell, ZERO privacy, curtains that didn’t cover the windows, one bedroom with half a wall unfinished, and tampon wrappers left around the bedroom. The property is ugly and neglected. We hope this keeps someone else from being scammed.
