Altos de la Viña, Wine Hotel & Spa

The included breakfast was delicious, and the hotel was comfortable with lovely views of San Salvador de Jujuy. The pool and Jacuzzi were closed during our visit, unfortunately. We would’ve liked to try them.

The facilities feel worn and could use some attention. In summer, the outdoor pool wasn’t set up for guests: there were no sun shades, just chairs piled up. The spa needs refreshing too, and some pool towels had holes. There were also far more insects than I expected. With the area’s semitropical climate, I understand you can’t get rid of them all, but mosquito nets, clearing away dead insects, and dealing with those inside the building would help. The hotel sits in an elevated spot with a nice view over SS del Jujuy. There are plenty of amenities for the price, including an outdoor pool, restaurant, spa, tennis court, and parking. It also has more of a hotel feel than many local alternatives, and seems to be the fancy choice for wealthy people from the area. I didn’t feel warmly welcomed here, which was unusual for Argentina. Staff at both reception and the restaurant came across as stiff, as though they had something to prove. It’s good value for money, but I found a more heartfelt welcome and stay elsewhere in the region.

The staff were attentive, and the food was nice. There’s a good restaurant menu for author's food, plus a soccer court, a tennig area, and a pool. Breakfast is pretty basic; eggs, sausages, and bacon would round it out. It’s a restored mansion now used as a hotel. The rooms are comfortable but classical, and cleaning and maintenance are right on the spot. There’s also a simple spa with a sauna and small pool at accessible prices.

The staff were clean and super friendly, and always ready to help, even making eggs or other things for breakfast. There was a lot of sugar in the Argentinian-style breakfast, though. The place is close to the main attractions and points of interest in the centre of Jujuy. We’d definitely recommend staying here.
