Alta Montaña Hostel

The pets are so affectionate, especially Batuque! The welcoming spaces are immaculate, and there’s a lovely park to relax in. The owner makes you feel right at home. An excellent place to stay and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended.

The biggest issue was the bathrooms: there are only two, so we almost always had to wait, and one day there wasn’t any hot water for a shower. Breakfast was good, and the staff were very friendly. The house is nice and well located, and our room was okay, but it needs maintenance. It feels like things have just been patched up, when the place could be much better.

I don’t usually give five stars, but this hostel has what you need to relax. It’s clean, peaceful, and welcoming, with a kitchen, grill, and a lovely park with hammocks and lounge chairs. The staff are attentive and helpful. It’s definitely worth it. If you’re after a party atmosphere, you’re better off somewhere else.

There’s loads to do together here. The large common area has a big table, armchairs, a fireplace, ping-pong tables, a mini-pool table, and other games, great for socializing with other guests. You can cook or bring in food, and there’s a really good, all-you-can-eat breakfast with coffee, milk, tea, bread, butter, jams, honey, pudding, cereals, yogurt, fruit, and fresh orange juice. The prices are more than reasonable. I came with my three children, ages 26, 12, and 10, and we all loved it. It’s an excellent place for friends or family, though most guests are young. The owners are always attentive and happy to help plan trips and visits. It’s a big house with spacious bedrooms and beautiful views, plus a large garden at the front and back. Out back there are tables, patios, games, and two llamas. Even though it’s a hostel for young people, there wasn’t excessive noise or disorder. It’s a lovely place, highly recommended, and we’ll come back whenever we travel north.
