The garden at Casa Colores is gorgeous, with places to sit indoors, outside, or in the shade. Breakfast is made with care and tastes lovely. I also slept better here than almost anywhere on my travels: it was quiet and tidy, the bed was comfortable, and my roommates were considerate. Carolina welcomed me before I even arrived, and she, Emiliano, and their friends who work at the hostel are such wonderful people. Tilcara already feels magical, but staying here meant making friends I’ll keep for life. I’ll want to come back. The location by the train tracks has a view straight out of a movie, though there’s no train, so no train noise. Thank you so much, Carolina. Nos vemos pronto!

The common areas at Casa Colores Tilcara felt like home, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. It’s a cozy, colorful place with lovely vibes, good for meeting people or just unwinding after exploring Jujuy. I had a few amazing days there and loved every second. For the price, it’s good value, with spacious dorms, comfortable beds, and clean bathrooms. Breakfast is the standard for the area, tea with bread and dulce de lèche. The hostel sits behind the train tracks, so getting there is a bit tricky: you have to climb over one rail, cross the tracks, then climb over another. One downside, there was no soap in the bathrooms.

It’s just across the bridge and still very close to downtown, in a safe area. The owner is kind and helpful, and can explain how to take trips on your own as cheaply as possible. The hostel itself is a pleasure to stay in, rustic, colorful, and very clean. The kitchen is clean too and has everything you need.
