Hotel Aloha

The room we eventually got, number 1, was basic and only just adequate. We arrived with KM1, and the rooms were meant to be ready at 2 PM. After a few hours they finally handed ours over; things seemed normal at first, but there were several problems. The TV would switch itself off moments after we turned it on, the toilet leaked when flushed, and shower water ran into the dining room. The bigger concern was security. The window had no lock, and that very night someone tried to rob us inside the hotel. A man in a white cap came in at night claiming to be the “night watchman.” He went into rooms where the window security lock was faulty, or where guests who had gone out had left the room unlocked. Anyone can come and go, with no real control or security. Breakfast was very basic, simpler than what you'd make at home, and the service was poor. They do provide hot water and will store things that need refrigeration. I'm not demanding, but I definitely wouldn't stay here again.

The people working here were incredibly friendly and helpful, even with personal matters. José deserves a special mention for being so kind and attentive to everything we needed. I didn't get to meet the rest of the staff, but the service was very pleasant. The hotel's close to the sea, too, and has plenty of potential. For its location and service, I'd give it five stars. The facilities are another story, more like three stars, though they do match the price. The beds really need replacing. You wake up with a stiff neck and a sore back. The fans could be better, and the loose electrical outlets are a safety concern for kids and adults. The old TVs don't work, so hopefully nobody needs one. Bring your own towels and bedding for obvious hygiene reasons. Room cleaning is optional and free, which I liked, since not everyone wants their belongings handled. I found the bathroom comfortable. Breakfast is served from 8-10 am. It's good and enough for most people, though it isn't a lot, so anyone with a big appetite may want to order something else. We traveled with KM 1 this time, and I wouldn't recommend the agency either.

The location is excellent, close to everything, and the reception staff were very helpful. The cleaning lady was lovely, too. I arrived ready to give the place one star, but after speaking with the staff I realized the delay wasn't their fault. One person was expected to clean 18 rooms during the turnover. The schedule said 2 PM, but we didn't get our room until after 3. Km1 is responsible for that. They advertise it as a two-star hotel, but it turns out to be only one star. Things that need attention: the mattresses are very saggy, towels should be provided without guests having to ask, and breakfast could be improved. They have a washing machine from the 80s.

The location is excellent, but the hotel itself needs a lot more care. Staff were friendly, though a few seemed untrained. When we arrived, nobody explained how things worked, including breakfast hours or room cleaning. In room one, the sheets were stained and torn, and the pillows were so old and flat they were like paper. The room's hygiene was questionable. I don't blame the cleaning staff, since the place is full of worn-out old things, but there are barely any basic amenities. No towels, no clothes rack, and not even a bathroom shelf for a toothbrush or shampoo. The shower smelled of rust, and it flooded the whole bathroom and half the room. There was also an ancient TV with no remote. Breakfast was coffee with milk and croissants. I wasn't expecting more, but the milk was disgusting. I wouldn't come back and can't recommend it.
