I had the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. It doesn't feel like a four-star property, and the edited promotional photos don't match what we found. The hotel is old and run-down, and both the staff and owner were extremely rude. Breakfast was very limited, and each person was allowed just one table napkin. The restaurant closes at 8 pm and the bar at 10 pm, so there isn't really a place to socialize at the hotel. I wouldn't say it's suitable for families with children or groups. There's a coffee machine in the lobby, but its programmed outlet cuts power from 10 pm until 7 am.

We came as three families for dinner, and the whole evening was a disaster. The meat was dry and chewy, and at 8:50 pm we couldn't order dessert because the hot kitchen closes at 9. The owner was extremely rude, wouldn't accept card payment, and the bills were wrong. I visit Abtenau at least twice a year, but I'll never set foot in this restaurant again. I'd recommend the restaurants next door instead.

We were travelling with kids, but this isn't a family hotel, despite what they say. The services listed on the website didn't match what we found: the jacuzzi wasn't working, and the wellness area closed at 7 pm. If you're skiing in winter, there's hardly time to relax there. They also count the table napkins. One time I dared to ask for extra napkins, and they told me off.

We were told by the bald man who said he owned the hotel that it's not a family place. He said children weren't wanted in the lobby and that after 8 pm everyone had to go to their rooms, so we couldn't socialize there. We also had a pair of children's jets stolen from the ski equipment room. We reported the theft to the police, but he just shrugged. When we asked for two dinner napkins or a glass of water for the baby, he shouted at us and refused, saying it was past 8 pm and we'd have to pay. Dinner was from 6:30 to 8.

The food was good, and the location is good too. Service was just okay, nothing amazing.
