Alphof

We’ve just had a fabulous week at Hotel Alphof in Alpbach. Johann and the staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful, going out of their way to make the stay enjoyable. The rooms were spacious, clean, each had a balcony, and the views were fabulous. The food was superb and service was quick and friendly. Half board included a full breakfast buffet with omelettes or fried eggs made to order, plus an evening meal of five courses: a salad buffet, two starters, a choice of three mains, and dessert. From 3pm to 5pm there were hot and cold dishes, including pasta, and an outstanding selection of cakes. Drinks weren’t included except at breakfast, but prices were similar to other hotels nearby. There’s no kettle in the room, though hot and cold drinks can be bought throughout the day. The dining room is spacious, there’s an outdoor terrace for eating, and the bar is roomy and cozy. The spa has a good sized pool with nice views, a seated area with water jets, and plenty of loungers. There are several steam rooms and saunas, some family friendly and a separate adults only section. There’s no gym equipment, but it’s geared strongly towards relaxation. A bonus is the panoramic roof terrace for sunbathing or taking in the views over Austria’s most beautiful valley. There’s indoor and outdoor parking for guests with cars. The Alpbachtal Card also gives free buses around the valley, free access to several gondola ski lifts that would otherwise be expensive, and entry to a range of attractions in and beyond the valley. Alpbach is simply a perfect place for anyone who loves being outdoors in the mountains, and Hotel Alphof makes a great base for enjoying what Tyrol has to offer. The pool is modern and spotless, the sauna excellent, and the gourmet dinner was outstanding. Our room was super clean, the staff friendly, and service at the restaurant impressively quick. One thoughtful gesture really stood out: my wife had trouble paying for lunch by card at the bar, so the owner immediately offered her a courtesy lift to help. I can’t recommend the place enough, definitely worth a visit!

We had a fantastic week here as part of a Crystal Ski holiday, arriving at 18.30 on the Saturday in the last week of February 2026. Check in was fast and efficient, and there was a roaring fire in the large, cozy bar. All the staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We had a standard twin room, which was large with plenty of storage, a balcony with a lovely view, and very comfortable beds. The hotel is on the ski bus route. The 620W takes you door to door to the gondola, so getting to the slopes is easy. There’s also a good sized boot room with boot warmers. The evening menu was fantastic, with a choice of mains, beautifully cooked and presented using high quality ingredients. There was always a varied, plentiful salad bar and cheese selection too. The wine list is extensive and thoughtfully put together, and the whole drinks menu is good and reasonably priced. We were very well fed, watered, and looked after. I’d highly recommend this hotel for couples and families, and would definitely return.

The service was friendly and accommodating, and I hope we can come back someday. I was travelling with my 8 year old, and the twin room was just right for us. After a hearty breakfast we’d spend the afternoon at the pool and spa when we got back from day trips. The afternoon cake was a treat, and the evening meals were varied and generous. By the end of the week, I was too full to manage all five courses! A superb stay.
