I gave up and booked somewhere else after my follow-up message also went unanswered. It took a reminder, sent two days after I first asked about a room, just to get an email reply. Communication was poor.

The landlady was so gentle and courteous. The rooms were nicely furnished, and the place felt peaceful, quiet, and relaxing, almost like home. Everything was close by. Super cool place 😍

The room was only at a basic standard, and Pension Schiessling was one of many places on our Austria trip where payment turned out to be cash only. We found out too late that they didn’t take cards. When I booked in July 2019, there was no warning on the website. This “Only cash” issue kept coming up throughout our trip, at restaurants, bars, and pensions, not just for a few euros. I have to admit I hadn’t expected this habit in a country like Austria. Aside from hotels, gas stations, and museums, we ran into it far too often. Unfortunately, this place was one more in a long sequence.

The host was lovely, but the room smelled of smoke and felt quite dated.
