Das Schiff in den Bergen

We nearly skipped it because it seemed pricier than other places in town. Then the food arrived, and wow, it was incredible, with generous portions too. They were happy to adjust one of the sides, and the drinks were great as well. 10/10. We’re gutted we waited until our last night to go. We’ll be back with friends 😍

The pool was great, the hotel was clean, and our room had a nice, quaint feel with the wooden details you’d expect in Austria. Breakfast had a very good selection, and there are local amenities nearby. Still, a few things brought my rating down to three stars rather than four. The kids’ food choices weren’t adequate, and I found the beds uncomfortable. The pillows were nearly flat and gave me a bad neck ache for the first few days; they did provide better ones when I asked. The gym was fine, but its 7:30am-8pm hours meant I couldn’t train, especially with breakfast at 7:45. I’d expect access from 6-6:30am at least, or 24 hours. Dinner looked well presented, but in some cases the taste wasn’t as flavorful as it looked, and I soon stopped looking forward to it as much as I had at other restaurants. I knew drinks cost extra, but they were overpriced, with water at €5. The reception bell was rarely attended, so ringing it didn’t usually bring anyone and you had to go find someone. The general atmosphere was good, and I can recommend the hotel if these issues don’t bother you much.

The place is elegant and very clean. There’s a nice range of specialties, prepared and served by a capable, dedicated gastronomy team.
