The place has a quiet, relaxing atmosphere, and the location is handy for everything while still feeling calm. Inside, it’s very clean and comfortable, with a homely feel and warm, welcoming staff. It really does feel family-run. The building is older and there’s no air conditioning, but that wasn’t a big issue for us during our stay. I did miss having an iron in the room, though. We really enjoyed our experience and would definitely recommend it.

Bernhardt was a huge help throughout our stay. He sorted out printed bus and train schedules for my wife and me when we were trying to work out a complicated route back to Munich airport, and helped another person in our group deal with a parking ticket. Always smiling, too. We were there for a week in late September with five others for a biking holiday. The location worked perfectly for day trips, and the main S2 bike path was less than half a mile away. The sauna was lovely, the pool was clean, and our lunch-and-dinner package was very good, with a four-course dinner every night. We had a wonderful time.

Dinner was a highlight for us. We were impressed with the meals we ordered, and the wine list was thoughtfully put together. Breakfast had plenty of choice, too. The staff were friendly, helpful, and professional. Our room was comfortable and quiet, and waking up to the surrounding scenery was a treat. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend staying and eating here while taking a day trip to Hallstatt.

We loved having the restaurant right there. The food was so good that it was hard to convince anyone in our group to eat elsewhere. The bar feels snug and cozy, while the outdoor tables were just right for summer evening meals. The staff looked after us well and were professional throughout the week. Agathawirt is a beautiful little village, set among excellent biking areas and within reach of lakes and the Hallstatt salt mines for day trips. Trains to nearby towns were dependable. Landhotel Agathawirt is within walking distance of the station, and has a pool, sauna, game room, and a south-facing sunroom for some winter warmth. The adjoining bicycle rental business had lovely equipment and good prices for the service and type of bike. I’d be back in a heartbeat if the flight weren’t nine hours.
