Hostel Bad Goisern

The woman who helps at the hostel was friendly and attentive, and the location is very good. The rooms are acceptable, but the owner's attitude was the worst part for me. He came across as aggressive, unfriendly, and a bit xenophobic. The floors are extremely noisy. Every step echoes, and you can hear between rooms, so it gets really loud when the hostel is full.

Phillip was a warm, welcoming host from the moment we arrived, and even spent a while playing pool with us. This hostel is the kind of place where you come in as strangers and leave feeling you know the people and the surrounding area much better than you otherwise would. Can't recommend it enough!

The location was the only plus, along with the owner's dog, who sadly seemed to get as little respect from him as his female guests did. The owner made me feel unsafe and deeply uneasy. The two showers and toilets also have no locks and are gender-neutral, which did not feel safe for female travellers. A girl sharing my room told me about her experience with the owner and his son/nephew. She had been assigned to a six-person mixed dorm with only men and asked to move because she was uncomfortable. Instead of hearing her out, they both shouted, swore, and insulted her. They only moved her after Booking.com opened an investigation. They were rude and unsettling throughout the trip.

I paid a total of 1020 euros for a four-night booking and had the invoices and receipts, but the owner demanded another 350 and wouldn’t let me stay. I was exhausted and sick, and he shouted at me, pointed his finger at me, and told me to leave, saying, “It's your problem.” The owner and receptionist were rude, and I couldn’t stay at the hotel as I was supposed to. Terrible experience. Scam.
