Haus Heimo

We had a room with breakfast for a good price, less than we would have paid in Poland. The house has a lovely family feel and a nice view. You can walk to the main road or cross-country ski trail, and there’s a path between the houses that leads straight to the church. Just be aware that the very steep driveway may be hard to get up in heavy snow.

Heimo made us feel welcome, and his English was excellent, so it was easy to chat even with our basic German. We stayed five days and felt right at home. The mountain view was wonderful, with cows grazing in the morning and tractors baling hay in the distance. The location is hard to beat: the ski lifts are right outside, Romerbad Thermal Baths are about 800 m away, and Billa and SPAR are both less than 2 km away. The price was great, too, and there’s private parking with room even for large cars. The apartment is practical and well equipped. There’s a comfortable bedroom with a double bed and bunk beds for up to four, plus a living room with a big table and sofa. The kitchenette had everything we needed, including pots, pans, plates, glasses, a colander, bottle opener, iodized salt and potato masher. Appliances include a microwave, kettle, oven, induction hob, fridge with small freezer and a Nespresso coffee machine in the bedroom. The bathroom is a decent size, with a fantastic shower and hot water straight away. There’s no bidet, which is hardly surprising outside Italy. An electric hairdryer and outlets for electric toothbrushes and other accessories are provided. Wi-Fi was excellent and very fast, over 30 MB download speed. There are TVs in both the bedroom and living room with Austrian channels. We brought a laptop and streamed Italian TV without any trouble. A little corner of paradise, only a few hours’ drive away.

We’ve been coming here for ten years, and it’s still our favorite guesthouse. The whole family is so friendly, and we’re grateful for their warm hospitality 🥰 It’s a traditional family-run place with very spacious rooms and an apartment. Rooms include a breakfast buffet with just about everything: muesli, fresh fruit, jams, pastries, sausage, cheese, tea or coffee, tomatoes, cucumbers and several kinds of yogurt. Parking is right at the guesthouse, which is close to the Kaiserburgbahn cable car and the Roman thermal baths.

The location was naturally beautiful and good, otherwise we wouldn’t have gone there. But the garbage charges were handled in a very unfriendly way. They charged us 100 euros because we hadn’t taken the trash out. We pay for garbage service, so I’d expect it to be emptied at least every two days, as has happened at places we’ve stayed before. When we returned the key, he trashed the room. The hospitality was absolutely bad. If anyone goes there, be careful: they charge three times as much as the salas Arab, which they said was cheap. The salas tax is not very friendly!
