Thermenwelt Hotel Pulverer

We’re British travellers and have just had a fantastic week skiing at the Pulverer Hotel. The bus stop right outside was really handy, taking us to each of the main ski areas. The service is what made the hotel stand out. I’ve never stayed somewhere with a friendlier, more welcoming team. Michaela at reception went out of her way to help us find a sledging trip, phoning around and emailing me tips. The restaurant staff were incredible too, always smiling and chatty. Our room was big, clean, warm and spacious. The pools were fantastic, and our young children loved moving between the colder outdoor pools and the thermal pools. The restaurant also handled our dietary needs and allergies wonderfully, including coming up with creative vegan dishes. The children are already asking when we can go back!

The thermal spa was a real highlight, especially the large, pleasant outdoor pool, and the location is great. But the hotel’s decor feels dated, and some facilities are showing their age. The tiled floors in both the indoor and outdoor pool areas were extremely slippery, and the outdoor tiles hadn’t been salted. The sauna program sounds like a nice idea, though ads often interrupted the music because it wasn’t downloaded or ad-free. The afternoon snack after skiing was welcome, but it was disappointing that coffee or tea wasn’t included, especially as tea is available by the pool and in the sauna area. The rooms also feel dated. There were no shutters, the bedding quality disappointed us, and the glass wall between the bathroom and living area wasn’t frosted, which is a problem in a family room. There weren’t enough hooks or wardrobe space for ski gear, and ski lockers have to be booked separately rather than being included with each room. The staff were friendly, but seemed clearly overworked. The same servers were on both morning and evening shifts throughout the week, which may affect service quality.

The spa is the star here, especially the outdoor thermal pool heated to 32 degrees. The Nockberge setting is fantastic, and the rooms are cozy and nicely renovated. Front desk and food and beverage staff gave great service. We’ll be back. Thanks to the Fam. Pulverer!

The staff were especially kind and attentive, and every five-course dinner was delicious, with something special each day. I also loved swimming in the 25-meter outdoor pool, where the water was a perfectly warm 29 °C, even when the weather was cooler. We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Pulverer.
