Hotel Gmachl

We left feeling that our stay was strange and unwelcoming. The property itself is beautiful, and we had been looking forward to resting after a week of walking and sightseeing during our honeymoon. This was the third country of our trip and the hotel we’d spent the most on. The massage we booked was meant to be a highlight, but at check-in we were told there was a booking problem. Staff said they’d known before we arrived, yet hadn’t contacted us apart from one automatically generated email. We were heartbroken that they couldn’t work with us or accommodate us at all. That felt very unusual, especially after other hotels on our trip had gone out of their way to make things special. I also wouldn’t suggest this hotel for people who don’t speak German. We seemed to be the only English-speaking guests, and even after several days with the same staff, they kept “forgetting” that we couldn’t speak German. Nearly every interaction became awkward around the other guests and left us feeling singled out. The experience we’d most anticipated fell far short of what we expected. The staff often seemed annoyed with us.

We spent five days here for our honeymoon, and it was such a relaxing place. The spas are great. Just be prepared for the excellent, plentiful food, you might grow outwards at Gmachl 😁

The Gmachl team really knows how to make guests happy. The location is lovely, and the hotel feels cozy while still being stylish and modern. It has an incredible fitness area, and there are healthy, delicious food options every day. One of Austria’s best wellness hotels, in my view.

Beautiful nature and the remarkable historic city of Salzburg are close by. It’s a lovely place to unwind and enjoy the senses, with friendly hosts, exceptional service and plenty of ways to relax throughout the year. Thanks to the Gi.. and Gm.. families for the chance to stay there.
