Ferienhaus Schmittenhof

I booked through VRBO, but the short window for leaving a review there is really bad, so I'm writing here instead. The setting is beautiful, and we had a lovely stay. The landlord lives nearby and can help with anything. The house is an old farmhouse, so there are creaky floors and things like that, but it didn't bother us. Everything was super clean and tidy, with all the essentials and comforts, and the bedrooms were spacious. The listing wasn't very clear about privacy. It's a kind of farmyard with five homes in different buildings, some of them permanently occupied. The owner said one was almost always empty, but during our stay a large, noisy group rented it twice. There's no garden, either, so sitting outside means sharing the yard's driveway. I guess it comes down to luck. We also had to ask for the wood stove to be lit, so we just put a blanket over ourselves. A few other listing details weren't quite right: the tourist tax had gone up in 2019 and the advertised amount hadn't been updated, the check-in and check-out times were inaccurate, and the listed tumble dryer was actually a clothes rack, perhaps due to a translation error. The hike to the Sebensee is a great tip, it's so beautiful. And be careful on the toboggan run in Biberwier. Read the online reviews first.
