Hotel Schwärzler

I had a very pleasant stay and might come back. The rooms are extremely comfortable, with a double bed, shower, and balcony, and the hotel keeps high standards. It’s a 27-minute walk from Bregenz. A couple of things to know: there’s no kettle in the room, and it can take a little while to work out the lights. If you’re coming from the UK, brushing up on German may help, since the staff’s English is limited and that can make communication frustrating.

We ordered the vegetable cannelloni and fish plate, and both of us were delighted with our choices. There was also a buffet in the middle with a main course, salad, and desserts. The wooden restaurant space is stylish and clean, with big panoramic windows facing a small courtyard. It was our first lunch there, and the attentive, friendly service was wonderful from the moment we walked in until we left. We’ll come back for lunch or dinner.

The hotel feels a little dated inside, but it’s very clean, with high-quality furniture and bed linen, and a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere. The staff are attentive, and guests are welcomed with an aperitif.

The bar prices are reasonable, and the service from the professional staff was good. They all spoke good English. Special thanks to receptionist Miss, Tabea, who helped me a lot. Her English was good enough, and she has a good deal of experience dealing with visitors.
