We paid a frankly exorbitant nightly rate, but the hotel didn't come close to being worth it. The room had no air conditioning and only a tiny 25cm fan. It also had just one bath towel for my partner and me to share, with no hand towels or floor towel. Staff could have fixed that easily, but we didn't see any staff during our weekend stay. We arrived at 18:30 on Friday and used the self check-in, which was fine, and we had been given information beforehand. Still, having nobody on hand on Saturday is unacceptable for a hotel. We messaged through WhatsApp to ask for more towels. Although we'd received messages there before arrival, no one replied, and the messages weren't even read until after we were home. At least an apology after we left would've been in order. I guess we could've tried the emergency line, but a lack of towels hardly seems like an emergency. I can only assume the season had a lot to do with it. Maybe the place is charming at other times of year, but based on our experience, I'd avoid it in hot summer weather.

Getting around is easy from this really nice place. It's well located, with good public transport whether you're heading to the mountain or staying by the lake.

The junior suite was roomy, and the place had a charming feel that made me comfortable right away. I visited Bregenz over Christmas and would happily stay here again. The staff were competent and attentive, and La Café on the hotel's ground floor is a great breakfast spot. Thanks again!

The location is excellent and very central. The rooms are quite large and have been renovated nicely; what you see online matches how they look in person. There is no air conditioning, though, which could be an issue in summer. Rooms start on the third floor, while the reception is on the second, accessible only by stairs. It felt to me like the café was really the reception, but it closes at 6 pm. After that, check-in is online or through a key box. The entrance route to reception and the rooms doesn't feel worthy of a boutique hotel: you go through two doors, squeeze past a narrow linen storage room, then climb the stairs. There is a lift between the second and fifth floors. I'm not sure the hotel meets the formal criteria for four stars, but it felt more like a three-star place to me.
