Base-Camp Appartement

It used to be a highlight of our ski days, and the staff are still the friendliest place to stop around the Riesneralm. They always greeted us warmly, and the food was very good. There’s lots of outdoor seating, which was especially nice during COVID. But in this 2025 update, prices have gone up a lot this season, and that takes away some of the charm. The quality and service are still good, but for us the value for money just isn’t what it was. It’s a shame. We used to find the prices perfectly reasonable. Highly recommended for the friendly staff.

Disappointing. The goulash soup was canned, and even a simple schnitzel sandwich seemed like too much to manage. The bread was stale, with hardly any garnish.

The apartments are practical, the food was really good, and the location is ideal for skiing, right by the slopes and chairlift entrance. It’s a family-friendly resort, though self-caterers have few, if any, shops to choose from. The attached restaurant staff were unfriendly. The waiters and waitresses seemed like they’d rather be working somewhere else. If you can overlook that, both the accommodation and ski resort are recommendable.

We ate here a few times and the food was good every time. The value for money was excellent. Staff did their best to be friendly, though it helps to be patient during the lunchtime rush.
