Hotel Altmv Nsterhof

The only small downside was the hotel’s spot on Altmünster’s main road. Otherwise, we were very happy with our August 2025 stay at Hotel Altmünsterhof. The room was clean, the breakfast excellent, and the staff friendly. The price was good for the value, and a nice public beach is just 150 meters away.

The service at breakfast was very friendly, and there’s free parking. The hotel is nicely decorated, with spacious rooms, especially the apartment, and it’s a beautiful old building. There’s no lift, though. The location is good, with views of the lake and mountains. Since it’s by a main road, the rooms can be noisy. The windows don’t insulate well, and the room was also a bit cold. During our stay there was no hot water, which we were told was due to a power failure. Breakfast was nice, and the Wi-Fi was free, but slow.

A very kind woman greeted us with a lovely smile, even though our check-in was delayed. I’d like to stay here again.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the hotel’s Austrian national style is how it presents itself. The rooms are okay, though a little old. There’s no elevator, so if you’re on the second floor, you’ll need to manage the stairs yourself. The balcony was very dusty and dirty, and needed cleaning before we could sit outside. We booked an apartment with a kitchen, and were surprised to find the kitchen not very clean too. Only the plates and glasses were dirty, probably left that way by previous guests, so I chose not to mention it at reception. Be aware there’s a €35 fee if you leave the kitchen dirty at checkout. Breakfast was ordinary, nothing special, though they’ll prepare eggs for you. There was fresh bread, salmon, coffee, and a limited cheese selection. Apart from those things, it’s a great place to stay.
