Gasthof Lendwirt

We loved the cats, they’re a real treasure. The owners were wonderful and helpful, and the food and beer were delicious. It’s a quiet, cozy gasthof beside a little river, with beautiful mountain views.

Dinner was the big letdown. You have to be there at 6 pm, then wait ages for the food, and if you’re lucky dessert turns up around 8 pm, even though you ordered the meals at breakfast. Vegetarian choices are extremely limited, so it’s not much fun if you don’t eat meat. The hotel itself is clean and good, and the staff are polite. Breakfast is about what you’d expect with a half-board package. I’d rate the hotel 5 out of 5, but dinner only 1 out of 5.

I couldn’t use my reservation because check-in was only allowed between 3 pm and 9 pm. Even though I had paid in advance, there was no way to check in outside those hours, and I didn’t get my money back. I strongly suggest not booking this hotel.

We stopped at the Lendwirt after a long walk in the Windeau Thal to Straubing and the Jager Haus, then back along the river. Had a cold drink and used their spotless WC. It’s a lovely traditional Tirol Alpine place, inside and out, and the staff are friendly and chatty. I had their trout for dinner some years ago and it was delightful. I’ve been meaning to go back for it, hopefully soon.
