Really great.

The old Google photos don’t match what we found, and for 100 euros a night in Eferding the value was awful. We stayed just one night in a twin room and had to make one of the beds ourselves. There was only one large towel, so the second person had to use two small ones. The windowsill and shower screen were moldy, the bed had stains near pillow height, and the shower water went hot when we tried to make it cold and cold when we tried to make it hot. The “breakfast buffet” was two rolled-up slices of ham and some old, hard cheese. We’d already paid online, but in the morning an employee tried to charge us again, saying, “Unfortunately, I can’t see it in your system.” We called the next day to work it out, maybe with a discount, refund, or another suggestion. The manager said he’d get back to us once he’d sorted it out. Three weeks later, I don’t think we’ll hear from him. I don’t know whether other places are better, but the price for what you get here is hard to beat in the wrong direction.

We were very happy with our stay and would come back. The owners were friendly, breakfast was decent, and the simple guesthouse had everything we needed. It’s a handy base for day trips to Linz or for a stop while travelling through.

The owners were warm and accommodating, and gave us some great excursion tips. The inn is well placed for exploring the old town, with its almost Italian “dolce vita” atmosphere. Our room was spacious and quiet, and even the petrol station right in front of the building has everything you might need in an emergency. The area works well for hiking, cycling, or fishing, and there’s a lovely nearby winery with excellent organic wine.
