Hotel Galántha

The breakfast was a highlight, with plenty to choose from and everything fresh and delicious. The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and helpful throughout my stay. My room was modern, beautiful, spotless, and comfortable, and all the little details helped me feel relaxed and cared for. It was a wonderful visit, and I'd definitely love to come back. Highly recommended!

I found the stay disappointing and far too expensive. At EUR 180 for Friday-Saturday, the price felt unjustified, even though I could get a good night's sleep. Given the rural setting about 30 minutes south of Vienna, I'd put it closer to EUR 100 a night. The room was small but functional, and noise carried noticeably from other rooms. In room 104, about half the lights didn't work. The bathroom needed attention too: the ventilation grilles were visibly dirty and the shower shelf was broken. Housekeeping also came into the room without knocking, which was uncomfortable and unacceptable for privacy and basic service. Before arriving, I tried calling reception while driving, but nobody answered and the system kept disconnecting me. Booking directly on the website was slow and awkward, so I ended up using Booking.com. It's puzzling that hotels make direct booking so difficult while paying commission to third-party sites. Breakfast was another letdown. The selection was dull, the food seemed low quality and tasted poor. Even tomatoes for the omelette weren't available. A strange, underwhelming experience.

The location is fantastic, and the rates set expectations high. My stay was pleasant overall, but a few things got in the way. I paid for a castle view so I could sit on the sofa with coffee and look toward the castle and the houses on the hill in front of the hotel. In room 212, opaque parts of the window and the parapet blocked some of that view, and I don't know why they're like that. The restaurant and bar are on the ground floor while the toilets are in the basement, which can be inconvenient. Also, the metal canopy frame over the bed makes it awkward to watch TV from bed.

When my pregnant wife suddenly fell ill, we couldn't travel. I knew we'd missed the 24-hour cancellation window and had to pay, so the charge wasn't my complaint. What upset me was that there was no flexibility or willingness to find a solution, such as rebooking. The GM didn't reply. Staff kept presenting themselves as customer focused, but instead sent me the relevant GTC details in a lecturing tone. I've dealt with flight cancellations many times, and every hotel in those situations was helpful and willing to work things out. I've never encountered a hotel as closed to resolving the situation as Hotel Galántha.
