Gästehaus Geisler-Moroder

The food at breakfast, lunch, and dinner was delicious, and the hotel has been beautifully renovated. We’d love to spend another week at the Schnitzschule kids' workshop with family and friends next summer. My children joined a woodcarving workshop with their friend, led by an inspiring artist whose sculptures are displayed at the Schnitzschule and in galleries in Vienna. The artist is also a musician and was a wonderful mentor, encouraging the children and explaining the process during their first try at carving. My youngest daughter even made a new friend there. During the morning sessions, I took long walks with my older daughter along the beautiful, peaceful Lech trail, right by the Schnitzschule. In the afternoons we went swimming in a pool nearby, surrounded by mountains, and visited the long hanging bridge. We also watched and listened to an authentic Austrian dance and music performance just a couple of steps from the Geisler-Moroder school. The school offers afternoon outdoor activities for children taking part in the workshops. You can tell this is a real family business that cares about the grandfather's artistic legacy. We enjoyed seeing the sculptures and reading the history pages, which were interesting and educational for us as guests. A special thank you to Anna Geisler-Moroder, whom I spoke with, and to her brother and parents. They were all very busy looking after their many guests, along with the rest of the team.

We learned so much from instructors Stefan and Christian. Thanks to them and the whole GM team, we're already looking forward to visiting again! Thank you all for keeping traditional craftsmanship alive and sharing what you know. Until next time!

You can watch the students working at this one-of-a-kind woodcarving school, then admire the sculptures outside. One is a wooden information kiosk with details about different types of wood. Across from the studio there's a lovely gallery where you can buy things. We've picked up quite a few little items already, including Christmas decorations. Card payments are accepted.

We had a wonderful, inspiring week and a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Schnitzschule Geisler-Moroder. The service was excellent, and the food tasted great. Course leaders Kathrin and Bernhard were fantastic, highly skilled and enthusiastic, and gave us helpful tips, ideas, and support.
