Das Kaiserblick 4 Stern Superior

We came back for a second year, so we had trusted and liked this hotel at first. This visit was spoiled by an unbelievably rude exchange with the owner, Armin Kunig. Our son had a high fever and spent two days stuck in our room, unable to ski. On the morning of 24th Feb., he was still feverish, so I took a plate of breakfast upstairs for him. As I was leaving the breakfast area, I saw the owner and politely told him my son was sick and I was bringing him food. He looked at the plate and sneered, “A plate that big? Does he look sick? You're just taking that for yourself, aren't you?” I was stunned and got upset. It felt like he was calling me a crazy woman while my child was ill upstairs. His manner was condescending, arrogant, and disrespectful. When I reacted, he brushed me off by calling me “crazy.” I was emotional, but I'm just a mum. Instead of showing any concern for a sick child, he insulted a guest. I felt humiliated and bullied, alone as a woman dealing with him while my child was ill. He didn't ask whether my son needed anything or if we needed help. The cleaning and front desk staff were the one bright spot. Once they heard what was going on, they kindly brought tea and soup for my son and gave us information about local doctors. They were empathetic and professional, a stark contrast to the owner's attitude. It's a shame his behavior lets down the staff who do care about guests. I can't recommend a place where the owner treats people with open contempt, and we won't return. Brittany from Amsterdam Update: Even by tonight, I still haven't received an apology from the boss. I don't accept his apology anymore anyway. I'm still ashamed by the boss's behavior. Never coming back!

There's a good view across the village to the mountains, and the hotel sits right beside the ski piste, so you can ski back. The food is delicious, and the spa has a wide range of wellness options, with several hot tubs around and a pool just for adults.

The young woman at reception today at 17:30 was friendly. Then a short, black-haired woman in her mid-fifties, wearing a royalblue blazer, showed up with an extremely obnoxious, super unfriendly attitude. She lied to my face, then turned around to water the plants in the lobby and left me standing there while she yelled at me. I've stayed at the hotel many times. If one of the owners reads this review, they should consider whether she should have a senior position that she abuses so arrogantly. I can't recommend this hotel if this is how customers are treated. I don't want to imagine how she treats the warm, friendly staff.

Ellmau is ideally located for skiing in and out, and the hotel is right in the village. Beyond that, I think your money would be better spent at another hotel nearby. The German/Austrian reception staff came across as arrogant and weren't very helpful when we got lost among the buildings. The rooms have no soundproofing at all, and you can't lock the doors. Our first night in the main building was sleepless because the hotel bar music was so loud that we could make out the songs. We complained the next morning and were moved to a worse room with a much smaller bathroom. That night we again heard the bar's bass, as well as other guests and the cleaning lady washing the staircases at 6AM. At checkout, they made no gesture to apologize. The waiter more or less forced the 70e wine at the restaurant on us, and we also had two glasses of wine, 18e total. They poured Chardonnay instead of Pinot gris, and when we asked to have at least those glasses removed from the bill, they refused. It was a shame, since even a small gesture would have been nice. I guess paying ~1.400e for two nights wasn't enough to make us feel valued there.
