Landhotel Wachau

It was a disappointing, uncomfortable stay. That's a shame, since the wedding venue beside the hotel is lovely and its staff are wonderful. The room was unbearably hot. Although the hotel advertises air conditioning, it doesn't work in the rooms in summer. It's a system of water pipes in the ceiling, with cold water pumped through in summer and hot water in winter. Our windows had been shut since we arrived, but the room was still boiling. There was nobody at reception when I went down at about 8:30 pm, and no telephone in the room, which made getting help awkward. A woman staying on our floor had an employee's mobile number. I called to ask for a fan and was told there weren't any. He said the air conditioning would work if we kept the window closed. When I explained that it already was closed, he suggested opening it. The bathroom door wouldn't close properly, and the pillows were terrible.
