Gletscherblick Gasthof

We stayed for a week of skiing in Finkenberg in February 2017, with half-board at Hotel Gletscherblick. Dinner was a highlight every night: the chef, who’s also the owner, prepared a delicious buffet with 3-4 main dishes to choose from, and the owner’s service was exceptionally friendly. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful too. Our room was decent and had a balcony with a beautiful valley view towards Finkenberg. It wasn’t newly renovated, but it was adequate. The ski bus stop is about 20 metres from the entrance and takes you to the Finkenberg valley station. There’s a shed by the front door for skis and boots, plus plenty of parking out front. We’d definitely come back and recommend it.

A quiet hotel that works well for couples or families, though it isn’t the place for a party atmosphere. The rooms were spotless and the mountain views were fantastic, while the furnishings had a rustic feel. The owner is really the heart of the place. She listened to our personal requests, often did more than expected, and the attentive staff always welcomed us warmly. You can catch the ski bus right outside, and reception can arrange a ski instructor if you ask, which saves you from having to search or wait in line. We’d gladly stay again.

The evening meal was a real standout: a generous four-course menu with regional specialties, and a choice between meat and vegetarian dishes each day. Breakfast was well stocked too, and the staff were happy to handle special requests. The family who runs the hotel and the rest of the team were incredibly friendly, and I couldn’t find a single fault. I wholeheartedly recommend it. The hotel sits peacefully on the mountain and has plenty of parking, including some covered spaces. There’s a ski room where equipment can dry overnight. My single room had all the advertised amenities, plus a balcony with a lovely view over Finkenberg and the surrounding mountains.

Our stay was pleasant, with a tidy bedroom and comfortable beds. The bathroom could do with an update, though. The hotel is beautifully set among the mountains, and the owners are friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were good.
