A good apartment.

The owners were very friendly when we picked up the keys at Karawanken Lodge. The apartment itself has two rooms on the first floor, comfortable beds, and a nice balcony view. The kitchenette is badly outdated and needs replacing. The fridge also sounds like a power plant and seems close to giving up. Satellite reception was very poor, as others have already mentioned, so that needs adjusting. If those two things were updated, I’d give it five stars.

We rented the first-floor apartment for three weeks, and its worn, run-down state was hard to put up with even for that short stay. The online listing is inaccurate, including the claim that there’s a bidet. Calling the kitchen fully equipped is a joke: there’s a makeshift hotplate on an ancient stove, a filthy oven, and a disgusting extractor hood. Light bulbs were missing or broken in every room, old water pipes run through the rooms, and the curtain rods are screwed into the walls without anchors, so they shouldn’t be used. The TV reception is also terrible, with the picture stuttering after a few minutes and a signal that seems to come and go by luck. Reviews mentioned this problem two years ago already. We only got extra towels after a very unfriendly email exchange. They aren’t normally provided, and the bed linen wasn’t changed either. After many holidays in Austria, we’ve never had service like this.
