We liked this place so much that we went two nights in a row. We tried several dishes. My favorites were the Indonesian style curry and the spicy tomato soup with ginger. The beef tartare, beef cabbage roulade, carpaccio, and Seibling were all great too. The owner recommended a lovely Gruner Veltliner that wasn't on the menu, but it was out of stock when we came back. The waitress on our second night was a bit funny. When she asked if I wanted another glass of wine, I said no thanks, I didn't like that one. She replied, “and that is why you drank it so fast”. I wasn't sure what to make of that. Austrian humor, or just sarcasm?

We shared the half kilo steak and smoked salmon soup, and both were delicious, clearly made with excellent ingredients. The food and drinks are on the pricey side, but the quality is excellent. The service was friendly and professional. Hoagascht in Flachau has a beautiful wooden interior, cozy and stylish. It's worth stopping in even just for a drink. One small suggestion: leave the steak sauce on the side instead of pouring it over. A great spot for a special meal or an aperitif, and one of my favorites in Flachau.

I've been back lots of times, and there's always something new to try. It's still good, with lots of locals around. The restaurant serves a mix of classic cooking and Far Eastern dishes, and they can easily adjust a dish. There's even an ATM. The food is good quality and the place is very cozy, with lots of special dishes. The photo shows a great salad with fish. Today I had octopus, and it tasted like heaven.

It's worth having dinner here, especially if you've already had traditional Austrian food for lunch on the ski slope. There are other options, like fish soup, tomato soup with an unusual extra ingredient that was really tasty, Asian style dishes including vegetarian choices, and several other nice things.
