The room had clearly had thoughtful design work, but quite a few basics were missing and some things didn’t function properly. We gave feedback and heard nothing further. The wellness area was disappointing too: just two loungers and a mini sauna smaller than the one I have at home. I want local family businesses to do well, but the standards should match what’s being charged. For now, I can’t see us coming back, especially given the value for money.

Breakfast had plenty of choice and was good quality, and the wellness area was a lovely extra. Our family room was roomy enough for our group of friends, with comfortable beds and a luxurious bathroom. Everything was spotless, and the staff were very friendly. Two small things would make the room better: a kettle and something to cover the glass bathroom door.

The breakfast was great, as you’d expect in Austria, and it was handy to be able to pay by card. The ATM in Munich hadn’t worked for me, and the one in Flachau isn’t nearby. The renovated room looked good, and the small sauna was comfortable, though I wish it stayed open until 9pm instead of closing at 6pm. The steam bath costs extra, which surprised me because I hadn’t seen that on the website. The bed linens weren’t very comfortable: the blankets and pillow felt synthetic. The room was also much too hot, almost like an oven even with the door and window open. After two nights of tossing and turning, I asked about it, but they said there was little they could do and that nobody had complained or asked about it before. It was a fine stay, just not as good as I’d hoped. Five nights with breakfast cost €821,-, which is probably fair in high season, especially with the slopes only 600m away.

The children were especially happy about all the animals on the farm that’s part of the hotel, and we were pleased with the very good breakfast and its many options. We came from Italy and stayed one night. The family room was quite expensive, though we were still satisfied. I didn’t get to use the natural swimming pool because it’s only open from 10am to 6pm.
