Garni Hotel Fohnsdorf

We were glad there was so much parking right outside, and the bar was relaxed and cozy without being noisy. Our room did let hallway sounds through, though, and nearby restaurant choices seemed limited. We ordered pizza one night and went to McDonald's; on a longer visit, that could get restrictive. The Sattelfest package worked out really well for the price: spa entry, e-bikes, a lunch box, and breakfast were included. Breakfast was varied and tasty, and the breakfast attendant made mornings especially pleasant. The hotel is close to the Red Bull Ring and reasonably near the thermal spa, so we could mix activity with downtime. We booked late, but everything went smoothly. The staff were kind and helpful. My boyfriend speaks only English, and although the team wasn't very confident in it, they really tried to communicate with him. We'd happily return.

There was plenty of parking, the breakfast was good, and the staff were very polite. The Hotel Fohnsdorf appears to have been converted from what looked like a mining company's main office. Its rooms are large, and inside it's quite modern while still keeping hints of the building's past, which I found interesting. The bar and breakfast room are modern too. It's conveniently about 5 to 10 minutes from the Redbull Ring in Spielberg, Austria.

The staff were nice, and so was breakfast, but the room itself didn't look good and the beds weren't very comfortable. Heat was the main issue. There was no air conditioning, and the bed only had a thick blanket, with no sheet or lighter cover. I could open three windows, but it rained on 3/4 nights we stayed, so leaving them open meant lots of rain would get inside.

I spent four weeks at Hotel Fohnsdorf while working at a nearby project site. After tiring days there, it was quiet and peaceful at the hotel. Breakfast was good, and the restaurant lady would make egg dishes to suit what I needed. There wasn't dinner available at the restaurant, though I think they should provide it. All in all, it was a very good stay.
