Hotel FREIGOLD

The breakfast buffet was fantastic, with something for everyone. I was warmly welcomed at the hotel, and the high standard continued throughout my visit.

The wellness area was a highlight, with an infinity pool and plenty of loungers. It only opened at 9:30 a.m., though, so we couldn't use the sauna and other facilities before breakfast. We also loved the room's fantastic view. The room was modern, comfortable, and very clean, with a bouquet of flowers thoughtfully arranged in advance as we'd requested. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful, and the e-bike trip around the lovely surroundings was a highlight. A few activities were canceled at short notice, which was a shame. We had a pleasant five-day stay and booked a special deal that felt like good value. The regular price seems a little high.

The hotel is outside Freistadt in a rather odd spot, but the wellness area and rooms are very good and new. The beds are soft and comfortable, and we could sleep with the window open without noise. There's a decent bar downstairs that gets busy in the evening.

The food was truly amazing, and the facilities were high quality. I had one of my best wellness stays, with great programs and friendly people, and it was definitely worth the visit. My only criticism is that Freigold keeps promoting movement, connection, and activities, but seemed afraid to really put those values into practice. Most people I saw just did what they'd do anywhere else. Even the vegetarian dinner by default can be changed to include meat, apparently so nobody gets offended. Still, the rest of my time there was excellent.
