Zistelberghof

The staff were kind and helpful, and they made our family feel at home in Austria. We loved every meal, from dinner to the breakfast buffet, and the restaurant deck had spectacular views. It's a beautiful inn, surrounded by mountains, with an amazing location and an exceptional restaurant.

It looks very pretty from the outside, but the rooms are extremely uncomfortable. There's a shelf very low above the bed, which is dangerous. It gets very hot in summer, and the fan doesn't help at all. The blinds don't close enough to darken the room at sunrise. There's no kettle or minibar in the rooms, which are basic in other hotels. The reception counter is always empty, and the service is slow, inefficient, and snobbish.

The staff were attentive and friendly. I asked for an electric fan because it was quite warm in summer, and someone promptly brought one to my room. We got a very warm welcome, with friendly conversations at reception, dinner, and breakfast. The hotel has spectacular views of the mountains and trees all around it. The room was newly renovated and perfectly clean. For dinner, I had Beef Goulash and my wife had Champignon Schnitzel. Both were amazing, and the goulash was tender with perfect flavor. The food took a bit longer to arrive during a busy summer dinner, but I didn't mind at all, having a cold beer and sunset views from the restaurant terrace. Breakfast was nice too. There wasn't a huge variety, but everything was good quality and tasted great. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for more!

The trails right around the corner from the entrance are beautiful for hiking. The staff were incredibly accommodating, the food was so good, and the whole place was immaculately clean. The atmosphere felt comfortable, fun, and relaxing. I'm so grateful for my experience here. What a magical place to stay.
