Avoid room 21. It was cold and damp, and even the bed smelled of onions. The whole hotel had a bad smell.

I’m sharing my personal take after staying with a large group. The price was very economical, which is why I gave it three stars. You get the basics you need, including a shower, bed, and ski Keller, but the hotel has a very dated 70s feel. The rooms were too warm. Each day the radiators were on again and the windows shut, which wasn’t good for allergies, and the daily cleaning didn’t include vacuuming. Parking was cramped, though we managed with a few manoeuvres. When we arrived, we were shouted at to park a particular way, even though my hatchback had been parked neatly. Later I was between two station wagons, so I could have left it as it was. At check-in, they take a photo of your ID with all the relevant details. I raised concerns about personal data security, and it turned into a discussion. I don’t like having to debate GDPR or identity theft. You also can’t pay by card for transactions under €10, so we all had to order three drinks at a time. I understand the costs, but it would be easier to put the charges together and pay once. Breakfast was okay, but there was only white Kaiserbrotchen. Instant coffee was quick, but not really my cup of coffee. There’s a nice area to sit, and after I got to know the lady of the house a bit, she was nice too. Less shouting and discussion, and I can appreciate some Austrian character. The price was very good. For improvements, it would help to order drinks by room number and settle the bill once. Better mattresses would be welcome, too. Some glasses in the rooms would make it easier to have a drink there. Wine and plastic don’t go together.

We visited in winter. The food was quite good, but meals took far too long: there was at least a 30-minute wait between soup and the main course. There was no drinking water provided, and you had to pay for every drink. You could choose between two meals, but both had meat, sometimes with only the type of meat differing; the sides were the same. The rooms were very small, as were the old TVs. The toilets were the smallest I’ve ever seen, and even at 1.6 m tall I couldn’t move comfortably in them. Ventilation didn’t work, and the folding doors made things worse. There was mould in the shower, and the towels looked used and washed out, more yellow than white. Staff spoke only a few words of English, so you needed basic German to communicate. It was quite cheap, but I wouldn’t stay there again.

The dessert was lovely and the service was really good. I found the pizza odd tasting, probably because of a cheese topping I’d never tried before.
