Pension Grubenhof

Getting to breakfast each morning was a treat. We were greeted and asked what we'd like to drink and how we wanted our coffee, then had fresh baked goods, fruit, yogurt, meats, and cheeses to choose from. The rooms and beds were comfortable, with extra blankets and pillows provided, and all the staff were friendly and accommodating. At Christmas, the place felt like my grandmother's house: carved wooden decorations, red yarn in every room, and a big tree downstairs in the dining area. The window views were spectacular. On Christmas Eve, staff and family gathered around the tree singing carols, which felt magical. The train station is within walking distance for trips to Innsbruck, and the bus stop is a couple of blocks away for the ski sites. We brought our cat and there was no extra charge. We kept him in the room most of the time because a very friendly St Bernard and several other animals live on the farm. There are donkeys, chickens, cows, and more, so it does smell like a farm. We absolutely loved staying here over Christmas and highly recommend it.

The owners made us feel welcome even though we missed check-in. They messaged to say there was no need to hurry and our room would be ready whenever we arrived, and there was a warm welcome note at the door. They're older folks who live here and run the farm and pension, and they were especially lovely with the kids. Breakfast was good, with fresh coffee, bread, plenty of choices, and treats for kids. The beds were fresh, and the sofa bed was excellent, better than plenty I've seen. The room smelled clean, though the shower was clean but not spotless. It's a charming, rustic farm with lots of hand-carved details in the building and furniture. There's a kids' playroom, a TV room, a breakfast area, a cozy yard, balconies, and pretty flowers. No air conditioning, and some things are outdated. It could be a bit cleaner, but the owners' warmth deserves five stars. The views are breathtaking, especially at sunrise. Just remember this is their home and a working farm, so don't let little kids wander around alone, there are axes and other things scattered about.

The apartment was clean and comfortable, with a bed, sofa seating area, and dining table for two. It also had a microwave and refrigerator. The balcony faced the main road and the mountain view, and the shower room and toilet were separate. Breakfast is served in a shared dining room, with a typical European spread and fresh eggs from the farm. The farmstay sits on a hill in Fulpmes, about 10 km from Innsbruck, and you can walk there from Fulpmes station. The host was kind, polite, and helpful, and her dog, Johnny, was so cute. Loved the apartment, would recommend it to any kind of guest.

The price was very acceptable, breakfast decent, and the place simple and clean.
